IADC Grief Therapy
A focused, compassionate approach for processing deep grief and unresolved loss.
Grief changes us. Sometimes, even with supportive therapy, the pain of loss can remain intense or feel stuck in our bodies and daily lives. IADC Grief Therapy offers a focused way to gently process that pain while honoring the love that continues to exist.
I offer Induced After-Death Communication (IADC) as a grief therapy intensive for individuals navigating the loss of someone meaningful in their lives.
What Is IADC therapy?
Induced After-Death Communication (IADC) is a grief therapy approach that grew out of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). It uses bilateral stimulation—guided eye movements or tapping—to help the brain process painful memories and emotions connected to loss.
While traditional grief therapy unfolds over time, IADC is designed as a focused therapeutic process that allows us to work deeply and intentionally with grief and sadness.
Many clients experience a noticeable softening of the intense sadness connected to their loss. Some also report a meaningful sense of continued connection with their loved one, which can bring relief, peace, or a lightening of emotional weight.
Every experience is unique, and the goal is never to force a specific outcome. Instead, we create space for your mind and body to process grief in a safe and supported way.
What the Process Looks Like
IADC is offered as a focused grief therapy intensive consisting of two extended sessions.
Two 90-minute sessions scheduled within 2–7 days of each other.
During these sessions we:
Identify the most painful aspects of your loss
Use bilateral stimulation (eye movements or tapping)
Gently process the emotions connected to the grief
Allow the brain to move toward integration and relief
Because the work is focused and immersive, many people find the intensive format allows for deeper movement than shorter weekly sessions.
Who IADC Can Help
IADC grief therapy may be helpful for individuals navigating:
The death of a loved one
Miscarriage or abortion
Loss of a child
Pet loss
Anticipatory grief
Divorce or relationship loss
Job loss or other major life transitions
While IADC was originally developed for grief related to death, it can also help process other forms of profound loss.
A Different Way of Working with Grief
Grief is not something to fix. It is something to tend.
IADC grief therapy offers a focused way to process the pain of loss while honoring the love that remains. Many clients find that as the intensity of grief softens, they are able to carry their memories and connection with greater peace.
What Clients Often Notice After IADC
Every grief journey is unique, and each person’s experience with IADC is different. While there are no guaranteed outcomes, many people notice meaningful shifts after the process.
Clients sometimes describe:
A softening of the intense emotional pain connected to the loss
Feeling less overwhelmed by memories or reminders of their loved one
A sense that the grief feels lighter or easier to carry
Greater emotional clarity or peace around the loss
The ability to remember their loved one without the same level of distress
Some clients also describe experiencing a strong sense of continued connection with their loved one during the process. For many, this experience brings comfort and relief. Others simply notice that the heaviness of the grief has shifted.
The goal of IADC is not to erase grief or the love that exists within it. Instead, it offers a way for the mind and body to process the loss so that the grief can be carried with greater gentleness and integration over time.
I offer sessions in-person in Austin, TX or virtually, so you can be anywhere in the world.

IADC is a grief therapy approach derived from EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Using bilateral stimulation—such as guided eye movements or tapping—it helps the brain process the painful memories and emotions connected to loss. Many people experience a softening of the intensity of their grief through this process.
See the last FAQ below for links to further reading about IADC’s history and efficacy.
-
The goal of IADC is not to force or create an after-death communication experience. The focus is on processing the pain of the loss. Some clients report experiencing a strong sense of connection with their loved one during the process, while others simply feel a shift in their grief and emotional relief. Every experience is unique.
-
Traditional therapy typically unfolds gradually through weekly sessions. IADC is offered as a focused grief therapy intensive, allowing us to work more deeply with the emotions connected to a specific loss over two longer sessions scheduled within a short time frame.
-
In many cases, IADC is most effective when at least six months have passed since the loss. This allows the nervous system time to stabilize.
However, grief does not follow a strict timeline. Some people seek this work years—or even decades—after a loss that still feels unresolved.
It is never too late to tend to grief.

Yes! Think of it as supplemental, a one-off add-on.
IADC can be done alongside your ongoing therapy. You do not need to stop working with your current therapist to participate in these intensive sessions.
With your permission, I am also happy to coordinate care so this experience supports and complements the work you are already doing.
-
While originally developed for the death of a loved one (including pets), IADC can also be helpful for other profound losses such as miscarriage, abortion, divorce, or other major life transitions.
-
If your grief still feels overwhelming, stuck, or physically heavy—even long after the loss—this intensive approach may be worth exploring. We can talk together about your situation and determine whether IADC feels like a good fit.

Grief can feel overwhelming, but the process is paced carefully and always guided by your comfort and readiness. My role is to help create a safe, supportive environment so that difficult emotions can be processed gently rather than relived alone.
-
IADC grief therapy can often be conducted via secure telehealth, depending on individual circumstances. Many clients appreciate the ability to engage in this intensive work from the comfort of their own home.
-
The IADC intensive is $550. This covers both sessions.
